The latest numbers from the office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada shows a 1.8 percent increase in the total number of insolvencies in Canada in January 2017 compared to the previous month. Bankruptcies decreased 6.3 percent and proposals increased by 10.4 percent.
Compared to a year earlier, insolvencies are up 2.2 percent.
Other stats: For the 12 month period ending January 31, 2017, the total number of insolvencies increased by 3.4 percent compared with the 12-month period ending January 31, 2016.
